Salifu Amshawu writes about her life,and her work for GSPD and as an
Administrator in the Resource Centre of Persons with Disabilities


I am 23 years old and from Manga in the Bawku District of the
Upper East Region. I had my Primarly education in East Gonja District
of the Northern Region,after which I continue a three years to the
Junior Secondary School in Bawku.
As a saying goes, that education has no end,I proceed to the Senior Secondary School
where I study General Arts.In the course I did Literature in English, History,Christian Religious Study(CRS),and Government as my electives
Subjects, along with my English,Mathematics,and General Science as
my core subjects.
After my SSS examination I then work as pupil teacher
in one of the government primarly school in my district
where I was a life skill teacher of class four pupils
There I rose to the level of superintedent in-charge.
I gaing respect and popularity for the way I did my work.

After one and half year,I left the school and apply to
Resource Centre of Persons with Disabilities for the
position of an adminitrator,and for my determination I was appointed as the Administrator of the Centre.
I also contensted for Miss GSPD-Ghana 2002 and won the Beauty seat.
I was elected to serve as a secretary of the GSPD women wing in December 2001 at my district.
During this years, I have been able to raise fund to provide
training in batik tie and dye and pomade and biscuit making
for GSPD women members.
Due to my hard work,I was elected to attend a five month course
at Denmark on the topic "Democracy and the Right of the Disabled
in the North and South".

It is aways my desire to work to improvide the live of GSPD members
in particular,and all people with disability in general.
