Im the representative of the National Union of Women with Disabilities- Uganda. (NUWODU), i come from the Eastern part of Uganda, in Pallisa district. Im 26 years old, and Im an 0 "level leaver" and two years in Uganda College of- Commerce. I'm a secretary by profession.
NUWODU is an organisation of Women and female Youth with dDisabilities of Uganda. Founded in 1999. NUWODU is an umbrella organisation of Women and female youth with all categories of disabilities standing up together with a strong voice for a common cause particularly advocating for their rights and opportunities.

VISION:
To have women with disabilities enjoying all benefits of society at all levels- living independently and having diginity from among themselves and the society.

MISSION:
Facilitating unity, self-esteem and advacement of WWDs throuth advocacy, access to resources, education, skills development and functional literacy.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
1. To address special needs of wommen and girls with disabilities at all levels.
2. To advocate for equal rights and opportunities and create awareness on the rights and potentials of women and girls with disablities.
3. To unite groups of WWDs at the grassroots and the existing national organisations- of Women with disabilities.
4. To act as a coordinating body and establish a market and information centre- for women with disabilities in Uganda.
5. To strenghen the decentralised group of WWDs in Uganda through capacity- builiding, skills training and provision of assistive devices and speciali sed services.
6. To mobilise resources for programmes of women and girls with disabilities in Uganda.

NUWODU STRUCTURE:
NUWODU is divided in two three structures: 1. The General Assembly, This is the supreme policy boby maker, that meets once in three years to inter-elect the Board of directors, review the constitution, consider any amendments. The GA is comprised of delegates from 56 districts membership union. 2. The Board of directors(B O D) The BOD makes decisions on behalf of the GA and monitors the day to day activities of the organisation. 3. The Secretariat. This is the executing organ of the Union, which manages all the programmes implementes the decisions of the BOD and takes care of the day to day - activities of the organisation.

NUWODU`s COORPERATION:
NUWODU Is in coorperation with National and International NGOs. - National Associations of Womens Organisations of Uganda (NAWOU). - uganda Womens Network (UWONET). - Action for development(ACFODE). -(DSI) The danish council of the disabled organisations. Denmark.UK. -African Women Development Fund (AWDF) -The National Union of the Disabled persons of Uganda(NUDIPU). -The Uganda Society of the Disabled.

THE RELATIONSHIP TO LOCAL AND NATIONAL GOVERNMENT:
The govt is in fevour with the disabled, because they are represented at all levels- of governance, and they can advocate for their rights and opportunities.

By implementing a series of activities, NUWODU has gained some significant experience in dressing the needs of its target groups under the different programmes. (b) NUWODU has gained recognition from many stakeholers, this evidenced by the numerous calls it receives requesting for start up of new operations in different areas of the country.

(c) Invitation to the participation in the constitution review process was a landmark. NUWODU was recognised by NUDIPU.

CONCLUSION:
I conclude by saying that, since Nuwodu is the mother ambrella organisation of women and female youth with disabilities of Uganda, I pray that more effort and advice, guidance from stakeholders, donors,well wishers, and other partners in development can come in to support NUWODU.
