NUDIPU
My name is: Bruno Livingstone Mugumya, Nationality: Ugandan,
Tribe: Muganda, I came from Uganda, in Masaka district, in
central rigion.
Iam a member of NUDIPU on District level
Iam working as a chairperson of District Union
development committee. Iam in Denmark on acourse of
Democracy, rights of PWDs, capacity building
and other activities.
I like Denmark´s system especially
democracy and life in Egmont is very nice on everything.
What is NUDIPU?
NUDIPU starnds for National Union of
Disbled Persons
of Uganda,
It is an indigenous umbralla
NGO of persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
that brings together all
together all
categories of disabilities
including the physically, sensory, and
mentally impaired peole
impaired peole.
It was formed in November 1987 when the,
then existing associations of PWDs came together
to break the tradition that tended to
divide them along medical lines

Who are members of NUDIPU?
NUDIPU, Disrict Unions are the members
of NUDIPU.
It has members in all 56 districts of
Uganda.
NUDIPU´S PROGRAMMES:
Advocacy and Lobbing. This programme
entails policy influence, disability

main streaming and
equalization of opportunities of PWDs.
Networking and collaboration
NUDIPU networks with Government at both
national
and local levels, with
NGOs and other
institutions through various fora for
purposes of
collabration, information
sharing and joint advocacy.
ACHIEVEMENTS OF NUDIPU:
MOBILISATIONSOF PWDs to form 56 district
cross
disability coalitions now affiliated to
NUDIPU
District Unions in turn have 1000
sub-counties
associations as affiliates.
Lobbied and attained five members of
Parliament
represnting PWDs.
Lobied for and attained 47,000 councillors
with
disabilities from village (LC1) to District
level
(LC.5) level, 50% are women with disabilities.
NUDIPU has offices in Kampala District, at
Kisasi road Bukoto.
